ChatGPT feature FAQ

Should I use a ChatGPT Project, a skill or a workspace agent?

A Project holds the files and instructions for one body of work, like a client, a campaign or a weekly report. A skill saves your method for a task, like your report commentary format, and works in any chat. A workspace agent is for a job your team or other people run or ask, and needs a Business, Enterprise or Edu plan.

> who made this

Hi, I'm Riley. I spent a decade doing marketing strategy for Disney Parks and Macy's, and the last two years learning everything I could about AI and teaching others what I learn. I built this to help you find the features you're not using yet.

Are custom GPTs going away?

Yes. Custom GPTs retire on December 11, 2026, and a GPT's instructions move over as a skill. If you have a GPT you use every week, like a brand voice GPT, move it to a skill before then.

Should I use Chat, Deep research or ChatGPT Work?

Use Chat for an answer, a draft or one current fact. Use Deep research when you want a report from many sources, with citations. Use ChatGPT Work when you want a finished deck, sheet or doc built from several sources, like a weekly report deck from your exports and Slack.

What's the difference between a scheduled task, Dots and a workspace agent?

A scheduled task runs the same prompt at a set time, or when a Gmail email or Slack message arrives, and sends you the result. Your dot keeps working on an ongoing job between your chats, like watching competitor pricing pages, and brings results back for review. A workspace agent is the team version others can run or ask.

What's the difference between ChatGPT Pages and Sites?

A page is a doc in ChatGPT that you and your team edit together, like a campaign brief or a status doc. A site is a live page or small app people open at a link, like a launch calendar they can filter. If it has to be a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file, use the ChatGPT add-ins instead.

Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan?

Not to start. Chat, Projects, Deep research, data analysis and image making are on every plan, Free included, with lower limits. Pages, Sites, tasks that run when an email arrives and full ChatGPT Work need a paid plan, and workspace agents and @ChatGPT in Slack need a Business, Enterprise or Edu plan.

How current is this?

We check every feature against ChatGPT's own documentation and update it as features change. Each page shows the month it was last checked.
