Auto Mode by Default in the Claude Apps
Starting next week, Claude sessions in the web, desktop, and mobile apps run in auto mode by default for Pro, Max, and Team plans.
Details
- Claude stops asking you to approve each step. An automated check reviews actions and blocks the risky ones instead
- You can switch a session back to manual approval at any time
- Applies to sessions in Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile
- Covers Pro, Max, and Team plans and rolls out starting the week after the Oct 22 announcement. Auto mode already became the default in Claude Code in August
Best for
Longer tasks where stopping to approve every step slows the work down
When to use it
You hand Claude a multi-step job and want it to keep going without checking in on each action
Who benefits
Pro, Max, and Team subscribers who run agent-style work in the Claude apps
