- Nine extension types include sidebar apps, panels that open beside the conversation, file viewers and editors, composer mentions, rich forms, and two-way context sync with the model
- File viewers let a plugin open, read, and save file types it supports inside ChatGPT
- Canva, Figma, and Adobe already have extensions built
- A new Plugin Creator in the plugin directory helps prepare submissions, and after approval OpenAI re-checks the plugin's server daily so updates ship without resubmitting
- Composer mentions work only in the desktop app, and web extensions for Free and Go users are still coming
