Computer Use in the Agents API

Agents built on OpenAI's Agents API can now operate websites and apps through their interface in a browser OpenAI hosts, for developers.

Add a computer_use tool and an OpenAI-hosted desktop environment to an agent, optionally returning screenshots
Every website the agent visits needs user approval first, even public sites, but approvals don't gate individual actions once allowed
Your app handles sign-in: it shows the login screen and passes credentials through an events endpoint, so the model never sees them
The Agents API also brings Codex's multi-agent work, tool search, and context compaction into your own app, with OpenAI running the infrastructure
