Decider for Mac
A free Mac app that runs Perplexity's small decision model on your own computer, so you can label and sort private files without sending them anywhere.
Details
- Runs pplx-decider-flash-v1.2, Perplexity's 4B decision model, from the Mac menu bar and serves the Decisions API at a local address on your machine
- You ask a question about a piece of text or an image and get back probabilities, such as which of three teams should handle a message
- Perplexity's docs include ready-made scripts that label a folder of files, sort screenshots into folders, and block code commits that contain passwords
- Moving to the hosted Decisions API later only means changing the address and adding an API key
- Needs an M1 or later Mac with macOS 13, 16 GB of memory, and about 6 GB of disk space. The model is a one-time 5.8 GB download
Best for
Labeling, routing, or sorting content that can't leave your laptop, like customer exports, meeting notes, or screenshots of internal tools
When to use it
You want to test classification questions over and over without an API key or a usage bill
Who benefits
Technical marketers and ops people comfortable running a short script, on Apple silicon Macs
