SpaceXAIapiGrok Imagine Image Quality Retirement
Small update for developers on the Grok API: the older quality image model is retired and its requests now run on Grok Imagine Image 2.0 at a lower price.
Details
- Requests to grok-imagine-image-quality and grok-imagine-image-pro are now served by grok-imagine-image-2.0 with quality set to low
- Existing code keeps working because the old names still resolve
- The low setting costs $0.01 per image less than the old model at each resolution: $0.04 for a 1K image and $0.06 for a 2K image, plus $0.01 per input image on edits
- To pick a different level, switch the model to grok-imagine-image-2.0 and set quality to low, medium, or auto
- The original grok-imagine-image model is not affected
Best for
Developers with image generation or editing already running on the older model names.
When to use it
Update your model name if you want to choose the quality you pay for instead of accepting the new low default.
Who benefits
Developers on the Grok API. People using Grok in the app won't notice this.
