Both the AI model and the agent that plans and carries out the task run on the Mac, so planning, analysis, and output stay on the device
With your permission it works across local files and Mac apps such as Notes, Messages, Mail, and Numbers
Local tasks run on PPLX Pro, Perplexity's tuned version of the open Qwen model, and don't use Computer credits
Hybrid Compute from last month is still an option: it starts a task in the cloud and hands private steps to the local model. You can also approve sending a step to the cloud for current web info, browsing, or connected apps
To set it up, update the Perplexity Mac app and follow the in-app steps to download a local model. 36 GB of memory or more is recommended
