Agent Map and Settings Dialogs in Claude Code for VS Code

The Claude Code extension for VS Code now shows every helper agent a session starts, and lets you manage hooks and permission rules without editing settings files.

Details

A "N agents" pill in the footer opens a map of the session's helper agents, with a card for each one, a Stop button, and a read-only view of that agent's conversation
A new Hooks dialog lists hooks (commands that run automatically at set points in a session) and lets you add, edit, or remove them at the user, project, or local level
A Permission rules dialog lists the actions Claude Code may take without asking, and lets you add or remove rules at the same three levels
Sessions left inactive are now archived automatically, after 14 days by default, with a new setting to change that
Shipped in Claude Code 2.1.271, the same release that brought fast mode to cloud and self-hosted remote sessions
