Gemini API Request Logging On by Default
Small update for developers: new Gemini API projects now save their requests and responses by default.
Details
- Projects created on or after October 26, 2026 store Generate Content API requests by default, matching how the Interactions API already works; existing projects keep their current setting
- Stored logs show the full prompt, response, and earlier turns on the AI Studio Logs page and are deleted after 55 days by default, adjustable to 7, 14, or 28 days
- Turn it off per request by setting store to false, or per project in the AI Studio Logs settings panel
- Logging only applies to paid-tier projects and skips video, GIF, and PDF inputs, Imagen and Veo, and embedding models
Best for
Developers who want to review past prompts and responses in Google AI Studio without building their own logging.
