Claude Code Projects can now run their threads on your own machine, not only in the cloud, and beta access is widening to more Pro and Max users.

- Projects is one ongoing conversation where Claude splits your work into parallel threads and coordinates them; at the beta launch every thread ran as a cloud session
- Local support lets threads run alongside your local tools and code and behind your network, which Anthropic had listed as coming soon at launch
- Still in beta: Anthropic is working through the waitlist and giving access to more Pro and Max users, and people who used the older Claude projects are still being migrated
- Not yet on Team or Enterprise plans; the waitlist is at claude.com/form/projects
Best for
Project work that needs files, tools, or services that only live on your computer or behind your company network.
When to use it
Your project's tasks touch a local database, an internal tool, or a VPN-only system that cloud threads can't reach.
Who benefits
Pro and Max users who held off on Projects because their work isn't fully in GitHub or the cloud.
