Your AI training is cooked

Most training has the shelf life of a compliance video. Here's why.

Your AI training is cooked
I had a conversation last week that stuck with me.

A leader told me their team finished AI training, but six months later the way they work is exactly the same.

The conversation wasn’t unique, I’ve heard versions of this for months. It stuck with me because I realized the current approach to training is set up to fail.

Most companies are using the same structure for AI that they use to inform you about their privacy and sexual harassment policies. You sit through it, maybe click through a quiz, then mark it complete so your manager stops following up.

That format will never produce transformation. It's like watching a chef on YouTube and expecting to be competent without ever cooking yourself.

Some AI training gets closer to being actionable. The ones where you build a simple workflow or tool, but you're still making a dish someone else picked. You could recreate it, but you still can't open up your pantry and make a meal from what's there.

The goal is to get skilled enough to write your own recipes.

To get there, you need a chef who looks what's on your shelves, asks you what you need to cook this week, then teaches you techniques to cook those meals yourself.

Along the way, you're picking up skills that will help next month when the ingredients look different.

That's what Chasing Next is built to do.

We introduce a concept, you decide what to cook with it, then we guide you through the technique as you bring it to life.

If you want your team writing their own recipes, let's talk.

After a decade in marketing strategy and innovation for companies like Disney Parks and Macy's, I started helping teams figure out AI. I began Chasing Next as a newsletter on AI adoption over a year ago, and that evolved into interactive and personalized training, sharing the best of what I learn to help you get ahead.
